Christopher, I Promise

by Dorothy R. Colgan

I promise to give you the best of myself
and to ask of you no more than you can give.

I promise to respect you as your own person
and to realize that your interests, desires and needs
are no less important than my own.

I promise to share with you my time and my attention
and to bring joy, strength and imagination to our relationship.

I promise to keep myself open to you,
to let you see through the window of my world
into my innermost fears and feelings, secrets and dreams.

I promise to grow along with you,
to be willing to face changes in order to keep
our relationship alive and exciting.

I promise to love you in good times and bad,
with all I have to give and all I feel inside
in the only way I know how,
completely and forever.

BIRTH ORDER OF CHILDREN

You've just been told that you are pregnant:
1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy.
2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.
3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes. ________________________________________________
Preparing for the birth:
1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously.
2nd baby: You don't bother because you remember that last time breathing didn't do a thing.
3rd baby: You ask for an epidural in your eighth month. ________________________________________________
The layette:
1st baby: You pre-wash newborn's clothes, color coordinate them, and fold them neatly in the baby's little bureau.
2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard only the ones with the darkest stains.
3rd baby: Boys can wear pink, can't they? ________________________________________________
Worries:
1st baby: At the first sign of distress--a whimper, a frown--you pick up the baby.
2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten to wake your firstborn.
3rd baby: You teach your three-year-old how to rewind the mechanical swing.
________________________________________________
Pacifier:
1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it.
2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby's bottle.
3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in. ________________________________________________
Diapering:
1st baby: You change your baby's diapers every hour, whether they need it or not.
2nd baby: You change their diaper every two to three hours, if needed.
3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees. ________________________________________________
Activities:
1st baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, and Baby Story Hour.
2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.
3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaner. ________________________________________________
Going out:
1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call home five times.
2nd baby : Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number where you can be reached.
3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood.
________________________________________________
At home:
1st baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby.
2nd baby: You spend a bit of everyday watching to be sure your older child isn't squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby.
3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children. ________________________________________________
Swallowing coins:
1st child: When first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the hospital and demand x-rays.
2nd child: When second child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for the coin to pass.
3rd child: When third child swallows a coin, you deduct it from his allowance.

Car Wreck

Well.................

I was in a major car accident yesterday morning. I was heading west on Southlake Blvd going the speed limit of 45-50 mph and a Ford F-150 Truck made an illegal left hand turn right in front of me and I hit him head on. I went to the emergency care center today and got x-rays on my legs. No broken bones but a lot of muscle pain, bruising and scrapes. I can barely hobble around. Trinity was with me and thankfully was not injured except for some scrapes and a bruised chin. My car is the white Ford Expedition, his is the red Ford F-150. I have been thanking God for having such little injuries for me and my daughter!

Here are the pictures from the wreck.

Curtains For Trinity's Room!

While I was computer-less for over a week, I had a lot of spare time to tackle some things that I have been wanting to do. Here are some Disney Princess curtains that I made yesterday. I want to make some for my son's room next..... but of course I will stick to some reds and blues even though I know he really wouldn't mind the purple princesses!

I'm Back!

Wow, what a nightmare! My computer's operating system failed and I had to restore it therefore losing everything on my hard-drive and having to be away from my blog for quite some time! (No, I did not save anything to another hard drive or disk!) Lesson learned.

Oh, and another thing..... when I returned to my blog, I noticed that all of my sidebar stuff was missing!

My Cutie Wall Hangings!

My cousin came to me asking me if I could make her 3 personalized wood signs for her 3 kids. Being the crafty momma that I am, I gathered up my supplies and went to work. Please tell me what you think. (I hope she likes them)..............

Flashcards

Here is a way to keep all of those flashcards in one convenient place. I just punched two holes in the top of each card and then put book rings through the holes. No more 52 card pick-ups! That works for me!

My Pottery Is In!

Here are the results of my hard work from the pottery class that I took. I am very pleased with how they turned out!

A Strong Woman -Vs- A Woman Of Strength

A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape...
But a woman of strength kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn't afraid of anything...
But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of fear.

A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her...
But a woman of strength gives her best to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future...
A woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be God's blessings and capitalizes on them.

A strong woman walks surefootedly...
But a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls.

A strong woman wears the looks of confidence on her face...
But a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey...
But a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.

Watch Out!

Watch your thoughts--they become words.

Watch your words--they become actions.

Watch your actions--they become habits.

Watch your habits--they become character.

Watch your character--it becomes your destiny.

Sprinkle Rice Crispy Treats

Sprinkle Rice Crispy Treats

1/4 cup butter
10 oz marshmallows
6 cups rice crispy cereal
Sprinkles

Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. When melted, add marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat. Add cereal and mix well. If using sprinkles, add sprinkles and mix well (add more, and some more). Pour contents into baking dish and spread evenly. When cooled, cut into squares and serve.

I got this great sprinkle idea from Make and Takes.

Wisdom

You can take the man in and feed him the fish or you can teach the man how to fish so he can provide for himself.

Bacon Cups!

For those of you who don't know, I love bacon! Today I came across these at Not Martha. I'm in heaven! I think a poached egg in each cup would be so cute!

Birdcage

I love birdcages. I really don't know what the attraction is because I have never had a desire to own a bird.

Daddy

“Walk a little slower daddy,”
said a child so small.
“I’m following in your footsteps
and I don’t want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they’re hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I’m all grown up,
You’re what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who’ll want to follow me
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy
For I must follow you.”
